Combustion Air Flow Measurement
Presented by John Thompson, Sales Manager, Air Monitor
Description:
Combustion Air Flow Measurement is a critical aspect of optimizing industrial processes that involve burning fuel, such as in boilers, furnaces, regenerative thermal oxidizers, fired heaters, and other combustion systems. This topic focuses on the precise measurement and control of air supplied to combustion processes, which is essential for achieving optimal fuel efficiency, reducing emissions, and ensuring safe operation. Accurate measurement of combustion air flow is challenging due to factors such as limited available straight run, low velocities, particulate laden flow streams, turbulent flow patterns, and varying process conditions. The presentation will explore these challenges, discuss available measurement technologies and their suitability for different applications, and highlight solutions for particularly difficult scenarios. Additionally, it will emphasize the significant benefits of implementing fully metered combustion systems, including improved energy efficiency, reduced fuel costs, and better compliance with environmental regulations
Learning Objectives:
1. Challenges Associated with Combustion Airflow Measurement and Control
2. Available Technologies vs the Typical Challenges
3. Solutions for the most difficult applications
4. Benefits of accurate fully metered combustion
Speaker Profile: John entered the instrumentation industry after studying Aerospace Engineering at North Carolina State University. He draws on his extensive experience in application engineering to provide expert advice and solutions for challenging flow measurements in difficult industrial applications.
